ETHEREA

Claudio Silvestrin, faithful to his desire for innovation and creativity in the field of design and architecture, presents Etherea — the kitchen that looks ahead, far ahead, and which, in Claudio Silvestrin’s vision, anticipates the design of the next 20 years and the architecture of the coming century. That is why, at first glance, Etherea surprises us today: its beauty is innovative and challenges our visual conventions and beliefs.
For the shape of Etherea, Claudio Silvestrin drew inspiration from aether — Plato’s fifth vital element — and from Mother Nature, from her absolute absence of right angles, in order to facilitate movement, the flow of forces and energies, and the fluidity of water, of our blood, and of air: Etherea seems shaped by the wind. Even for the doors, which conceal the appliances and are traditionally flat, Claudio Silvestrin conceived a fluid design; the same applies to the joints of the Etherea island, transformed into vein-like lines.
Corian, a modern, malleable and lightweight material, makes Etherea resemble a stone or a floating meteorite. The kitchen appears to float in the air and in space.
Claudio Silvestrin’s intention is to de-materialize the kitchen as an object, making it “ethereal,” with a beauty that feels almost natural, beyond linear time and the culture of the machine.
